Ozone is a potent lung irritant. It can have damaging health effects, especially for persons with asthma and other lung diseases, as well as children and the elderly.

It should be noted The American Lung Association suggests that ozone generators not be used.

The ionization feature of the Living Air releases negatively charged ions into the air and attract positively charged pollutants and transfer their charge to them, essentially making the particles heavier, allowing them to fall to the floor or other nearby surfaces.

The Living Air Classic is equipped with a particulate filter to catch larger particles such as dust, pollen,and skin flakes, however there is not a lot of surface area, which means you'll end up changing the filters frequently.

The manufacturer suggests the Living Air Purifier be placed as close to the ceiling as possible or at least 5 feet from the floor. Considering the size and weight of the unit, 11 3/4" high, 8" wide and 9 3/4" deep and weighing 19 pounds, meeting this requirement could prove to be a challenge.

The cleaning instructions for Living Air Purifiers require the user to remove the ozone plates and scrub them with a toothbrush in ammonia and hot water, completely rinse and dry.

They also suggest if an existing odor remains within the unit after cleaning, place the unit in a box, operate the fan, put the purifier control on high and operate for an hour with the box closed. This should sanitize the unit as well as reduce the odors.
