February 2, 2007 08:35 - New Website
I've created a new website that helps homeowners avoid the most common problems associated with heating and air conditioning systems.I've found that many indoor air quality problems are related to the design and installation of inferior heating and air conditioning systems.
The site is also designed to help you make the right decision when it comes to choosing or upgrading a system.
Please check it out.

January 21, 2007 09:22 - The Contribution of the Peroleum Industry
It may seem like a contradiction, but the oil industry is really doing something about air pollution.A new low sulphur formula for diesel fuel was introduced in November, 2006 that will reduce soot emmisions from vehicles that operate on diesel fuel.
There is also a new generation of diesel engines that are also designed to cut down on emissions.
Combining these two measures, the reduced soot emissions from one truck that was built using pre-1988 technology will be equal to the pollution of 60 trucks that use the new engines.
There are now some localities that sell Bio Diesel for vehicles to go along with this welcome change.
I'm considering making my next car purchase a diesel-fueld vehicle.
In addition to the cleaner fuel and engine technology, diesel fuels give better gas mileage than their gasoline-powered counterparts.
For instance, a Volkswagen Beetle gets about 50 miles per gallon of diesel.
Historically diesel-fueled car engines last longer and also have a better resale value.
Other than our dependance on foreign countries, oil doesn't look as bad as it used to.
December 16, 2006 09:27 - Air Cleaners Yoiu Should Avoid
Recently the California Air Resources Board (CARB) created a list of air purifiers that create hazardous ozone.Ozone is a known lung irritant that should be avoided, especially by children and asthma and allergy sufferes.
According to a report by CARB some of these air purifiers create more ozone than a first stage smog alert.
Ozone generating machines are used by professionals for air purification and deodorization, but this is done in an evacuated area and adequate ventilation is necessary before re-occupancy of the area,
Air purifiers that use ozone do not remove asthma and allergy triggering particles from the air.
Legislation is now in the works in California to limit the amount of ozone these types of devices emit..

Most professionals agree that HEPA filters are the most effective way to remove particles from the air.
I have recommended Whirlpool HEPA AIr Filters to my customers as a cost effective measure and have always received good reports.
