The Santa Fe uses the same technology as your refrigerator.

A compressor pumps refrigerant through a coil, causing the surface of the coil to become cold.

A fan draws air from the area and moves it through the coil.

The humidity then condenses (like water droplets on a glass of ice water).

The water droplets then go into a drain tube that is connected to a plumbing drain or if the plumbing drain is located above the dehumidifier a small pump can be added to pump the water to an overhead plumbing drain.

The air is then reheated as it passes over a warm condenser coil.

Pros:

Very high moisture removal rate

Cons:

Initial cost of the Santa Fe dehumidifier is much higher than most dehumidifiers, but this is offset by the operating costs and performance over other dehumidifiers. It removes almost twice the amount of moisture as others.

Maintenance:

There is a filter that should be changed at least 3 -4 times per year.

Keep the plastic drain line clear.
